The Mullen Mustangs looked every bit the Class 5A favorite Friday night, dismantling ThunderRidge 41-7 in a quarterfinal game at Brother Bernard Kinneavy de La Salle Stadium. "We were just having fun, and I don't think we've been this hyped since Rockhurst (Jesuit of Kansas City in Week 4)," Mustangs senior defensive lineman Nduka Onyeali said. "It was just a good game. The defense was going, the offense was going — it doesn't get much better than that."

Safety becomes a focus as soon as you enter the grounds. Large signs with messages such as "Safety — it's your job for life," and "Safety is about people, not numbers," greet visitors and employees alike. An introductory video at the administration building further emphasizes safety, with statements such as, "accidents don't just happen, they are caused," and "safety at Chevron depends on you."

When these kinds of incidents occur, it justifiably puts the spotlight on how the industry performs and how various companies perform   -Dan Johnson

Successful passage through the semifinal round of Class C state playoffs will hinge on Chenango Forks' ability to halt the longest active win streak in New York high school football. Kickoff for the contest pitting Forks against Southwestern High of Jamestown is scheduled for noon Saturday at Marina Auto Stadium in Rochester. "Transparency" seems to be the new keyword in the Motion Picture Association of America's quest to gain larger support for its anti-piracy campaign. The MPAA moved on Thursday to try to diffuse some of the public interest group opposition to the Obama administration's pursuit of anti-counterfeiting trade agreements with other countries by making details of what is being sought in the agreements more public. Public Knowledge and other groups have questioned the need for the pacts and the secrecy around

They distract from the substance and the ambition of the [trade agreement] which are to work with key trading partners to combat piracy and counterfeiting across the global marketplace.   -Dan Glickman
